Taylor Swift Is Not Important and Disses Beyoncé, Madonna

Courtney Love took shots at several fellow female musicians over the weekend, dissing the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey and Madonna.

“Taylor is not important,” the singer said in an interview Quality. “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of today, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”

Despite Madonna’s plea for Swift’s success, Love hasn’t spared Madonna, either: “I don’t like her and she doesn’t like me,” Love said.

Elsewhere in the interview, Love also noted that she dislikes Beyoncé’s new country hit, Cowboy Carterdespite praising the album’s symbolism as “about black women going into places where before only white women were allowed.”

“As a concept, I love it,” Love said. “I just don’t like his music.”

Love has said that she dislikes Lana Del Rey. “I think she should really take seven years off,” he said, noting that he hasn’t enjoyed Lana’s music “since she covered a John Denver song.”

Love continued. “When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her because she was influencing me so much.”

Love attributes many of her criticisms to what she sees as changing styles for female musicians.

“It’s great that there are so many successful women in the music industry, but so many of them are becoming clichés,” she said. “Now, every successful woman is cloned, so there’s a lot of music out there. They’re all the same. If you play something on Spotify, you’re bombarded with a lot of stuff that’s exactly the same. ”
