US On High Alert, Preparing For Retaliatory Iranian Attack On Israel

The US is on high alert, preparing for a possible major attack by Iran that could target Israeli or US assets in the region. The expected attack is believed to be retaliation for Israel’s recent airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Syria, which killed a top Iranian commander.

According to reports, senior US officials and their Israeli counterparts see an Iranian attack as inevitable. As of Friday, the two governments were unaware of the timing or method Iran intended to use to retaliate.

On Monday, suspected Israeli warplanes bombed the Iranian embassy in Damascus, killing an Iranian military commander. The attack represents a significant escalation in Israel’s ongoing conflict with its regional rivals.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that seven Iranian military advisers were killed in the attack, including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander of the Quds Force, an elite foreign intelligence and paramilitary unit. Iran has said it reserves the right to retaliate decisively.

US President Joe Biden expressed concern over the threat posed by Iran during a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday. A senior Biden administration official said there has been ongoing and continuous communication between the two countries’ teams since the call. Additionally, the United States expressed its unwavering support for Israel’s defense against any threat from Iran.
